In the beginning, there was consciousness. I will grant that we seem to be confined to the particular orientation that we refer to as evolution, and that it may be possible that some method outside of that framework could exist. But since that is unimaginable to me at the moment, I will use the standard evolutionary model and assert that everything in our experience now is logically derived from that original consciousness.
Using that consciousness as Source, everything else in the universe is composed of, sustained by and nourished by that very Source. In the fractions of a second after the Big Bang, quarks, electrons and other subatomic particles came “into being”. Our bodies are still made up of those particles, though we do not see or experience them directly.
And every bit of that is energetic. Though the eons of evolutionary development have generated a vast array of different types of energy, they are all derived from the same Source. What we tend to call our “dense” form of physicality is just a different gradation of energy. As Einstein said, in one of my favorite quotes:
“Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. This is not philosophy. It is physics.” *

Given Einstein’s quote, and for lack of a better analogy at the moment, I will just generalize and say that Divine Energy, in whatever form, is diffused throughout the universe at all frequency ranges, know or unknown to us.
The nourishment provided by that energy is used by any given frequency range in a way that suits that range. As an example, unicellular organisms operate at different scales than plants or mammals, thus at the most gross levels they each resonate in different frequency ranges. Our individual cells may be at similar scales as the unicellular, but that is not where we are primarily experiencing our world. We operate and experience where our primary focus of attention is. We do not sense nutrients in the way an amoeba does, we smell with a nose and taste with a tongue at a vaster scale. We see the lightening and hear the thunder.
I want to overlay this onto psychological development. Each developmental layer imbibes Source energy in the frequency ranges that suit it. If a purely altruistic thought occurs and is acted on, other developmental layers may use that expressed energy within their own ranges as suits the notions within it. A “younger” acting level might just think “that really made me look good so I’ll have to add that to my toolkit.” That does not negate the intention that sourced the act, it is just co-opted, in a sense, and claimed for its own reasons by each downstream developmental level. Those who primarily operate at that similar range will naturally assume that it was done solely to support the perspectives which thrive in that range. It makes sense to me that this mechanism of internalizing any given act to fit into the worldview of every developmental stage is the norm. It is, in a way, the survival mechanism of those perspectives. They have their own intentions and each looks for its own validations as to whether the support system of its identity functioned as expected. These justifications and rationales may be verbalized – internally or externally – or they may not. Some of these may be called Ego, which is blamed for many ills, but the bandwidth of each level is limited. Others, in looking out from certain bandwidths, could very well see Ego everywhere. It is not. As I said above, we operate and experience where our primary focus of attention is. Whatever the level of development may be, we will tend to interpret the behavior of others from the levels that we ourselves most commonly inhabit.
So there are layers of energetic expression, some physical, some mental and some too subtle, perhaps, to sense while in these bodies of ours. I believe to some degree in the premise “like attracts like”. Just as we tend to be attracted to those who share our sentiments, interests, like and dislikes, so too the energy follows resonant pathways both around us and “in” us.

Now if you read Aurobindo, it is clear that the possibilities of what exists beyond the capacity of our meager sensory organs to experience is endless. What was apparently accessible to him should be accessible to all. And yet there is no need to assume that any one way of experiencing, or any one vibrational range in this universe, is inherently any better or more fascinating to explore than some other. As I have said before, we have preferences but they are of our own making, and that is just as it should be.
In “reality”, as far as I can tell, there are no distinct demarcation lines in energy. One may transit from one to another quickly, but there are gradations too fine to see in these transitions that are gradual, at least in my experience so far. Like any ecosystem, it is all totally intertwined and infinitely complex. You can pick the ranges that you’d like to play in, or experience being that which holds some or all of them, but the fact that you are focused in this particular locale is an indication of your past intentions to be where you are so make the best of it. Though it would be useful to seek out our reasons for having chosen this place, in order to better direct our choices now, the fact that we do not remember things prior to this lifetime must be somehow important for furthering the purpose of consciousness so while we are here, we must work with what we do have access to. On some level, it is as we intended. Go exploring, make the best of what you find and share it with the rest of us.
